Claire Morgan
Partner
Claire graduated from Strathclyde University in 1996 and after completing the Diploma in Legal Practice, trained with John G Gray & Co, Edinburgh and Thorntons, Dundee. She joined Morgans in 1999 and was assumed as a Partner in 2001.Claire has a degree in Management Science and oversees the running of the Property and Lettings departments. She has over 20 years’ experience in conveyancing.

Brian Tait
Partner
Brian studied at the University of Dundee where he obtained both his degree and diploma with distinction. He obtained a certificate in Employment Law from the University of Strathclyde Business School in 1993. Brian trained with Drummond Miller in Edinburgh, principally in litigation. In 1996 he opened Drummond Miller’s Dunfermline office where he was a partner for 19 years before joining Morgans as a partner in June 2017. Brian specialises in litigation with an emphasis on civil litigation, family law and employment law. He is also regularly instructed in personal injury, adults with incapacity and criminal matters. Brian is a member of the Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland and a member of the Family Law Association.

Russel McPhate
Partner
Russel graduated from Strathclyde University in 1986 and after completing the post graduate Diploma in Legal Practice trained with Carruthers & Co in Lerwick, Shetland. He moved to Fife in 1990, became a partner in Dunfermline firm C-A Petrie in 1999, then a sole practitioner from 2000 until joining Morgans in 2003. Russel deals predominantly with court matters including matrimonial, criminal, and all types of civil litigation.

Lynsey Rintoul
Partner
Lynsey graduated from Dundee University in 2004 and after completing the Diploma in Legal Practice, Lynsey undertook her training with Andrew K. Price in Kirkcaldy. As a Qualified Solicitor, she worked with Baird & Company in Glenrothes and Cupar before moving to Murray Donald LLP (now merged with Thorntons Law LLP) in St Andrews and Anstruther where she held the role of Senior Solicitor in the Private Client Team, dealing with Wills, Powers of Attorney, Guardianships, Executries and Trusts before joining Morgans in November 2015 as an Associate Solicitor. Lynsey was assumed as Partner in April 2019 and deals with all aspects of Private Client work.

Des Baxter
Associate Solicitor
Having qualified as a solicitor in 1983 Des has specialised in residential conveyancing and private client work throughout his career. Des joined Morgans from Macbeth Currie in 2018 when the Fife and Kinross legal, property and lettings departments of that firm merged with Morgans. He has experience of the Edinburgh and Lothian markets and for the last several years has worked in Dunfermline and West Fife. Des now works in our Private Client team preparing Wills and Powers of Attorney.

John Bain
Consultant
A graduate of Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities, John has worked in Dunfermline for 37 years. He is an experienced Sheriff Court practitioner. John has a broad civil practice including divorce and other family matters, damages claims, debt, bankruptcy and mental health issues. He is registered with the Scottish Legal Aid Board to provide criminal legal assistance. He is regularly appointed in Dunfermline Sheriff Court to prepare reports in connection with children’s welfare, guardianship and mental health applications.
John joined Morgans from Macbeth Currie in 2018 when the Fife and Kinross legal, property and lettings departments of that firm merged with Morgans.

Claire undertook her traineeship with a firm in West Lothian, working with them for over 10 years dealing with residential conveyancing and private client matters . Claire joined Morgans in 2021 and deals with all aspects of residential conveyancing.

Samantha Kennedy
Associate Solicitor
Sam has worked in both Conveyancing and Private Client since 2004 as a paralegal at Purdie & Co in Edinburgh, where she completed her paralegal accreditation. Sam then graduated from her LLB at Napier University in 2017 with distinction and after completing the Diploma in Legal Practice in 2019, Sam undertook her training with Jardine Phillips LLP in Edinburgh where she had worked as a paralegal since 2012. As a Qualified Solicitor, she worked with Jardine Phillips LLP before moving to Jameson + Mackay LLP in Perth as a Solicitor initially. Sam then became an Associate Solicitor at Jameson + Mackay LLP and helped to head up the Private Client Team at Jameson + Mackay LLP, dealing with Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executries and Trusts before joining Morgans in January 2024 as an Associate Solicitor in the Private Client Team. Sam deals with all aspects of Private Client work and is also a Notary Public.

Debbie Fisher
Solicitor
Debbie is a graduate of the University of Dundee where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws with Honours Degree (Scots and English Law Dual Qualifying) and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. Debbie undertook her training at Innes Johnston LLP in Leven where she also worked part time throughout her time at University. Debbie qualified as a Solicitor in June 2023 after completing her traineeship at Balfour + Manson LLP in Edinburgh. Debbie is based in our Private Client Team specialising in Estate Administrations, Wills and Powers of Attorney. Debbie also has a background in Residential Conveyancing and has previously worked as a Private Client Lecturer on the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Dundee.

Sarah Kavanagh
Solicitor
Sarah graduated from Edinburgh Napier University in 2020, and completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde in 2021. Sarah completed her traineeship with an Edinburgh firm primarily dealing with Family and Child Law matters, qualifying in 2023. Sarah has appeared in Court and in Children’s Hearings since the very early stages of her traineeship and has experience with Court of Session cases relating to child abduction and contact. Sarah joined Morgans in December 2023 and predominantly deals with Court matters including Family Law, Child Law and other types of Civil Litigation and disputes.

Lorraine Stevens

Lorraine has worked in the legal profession for over 33 years, working previously for a local firm of Solicitors in Dunfermline, before joining Morgans in 2016. She qualified as an Accredited Residential Conveyancing Paralegal from the University of Strathclyde in 2005 and is a Grade 1 Paralegal under the Law Society of Scotland Registered Paralegal Scheme and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Paralegals.

Lorraine has worked in the Legal Profession for over 10 years with a Local Firm of Solicitors and Searching company before joining Morgans in 2019. Lorraine completed her Accredited Paralegal qualification in Residential Conveyancing having gained a B.A Degree in Law from the University of Abertay, Dundee in 1998. Lorraine deals with all aspects of Residential Conveyancing in our Dunfermline Conveyancing Department.

Kimberley Beatson
Conveyancing Paralegal
Kimberley has worked in the legal profession for nearly 20 years, joining MacBeth Currie as an Office Junior and progressing to Legal Secretary. In 2017 Kimberley undertook the Paralegal qualification through Scotia Law Training at Stirling University. Joining Morgans in 2019, Kimberley qualified as a Grade 1 Accredited Paralegal under the Law Society of Scotland Registered Paralegal Scheme. Kimberley works in our Dunfermline and Kinross offices in our Conveyancing department and can assist with all aspects of residential conveyancing.

Elaine Kyle
Property Manager & Senior Valuer
Property Manager and Senior Valuer, Elaine Kyle joined Morgans in 2005 as Sales Negotiator and Property Valuer. Having worked in Dunfermline since 1988 with local firms of Solicitors and Estate Agents she has vast experience and knowledge of the property market in Dunfermline and West Fife. Elaine deals directly with builders and local developers giving advice and pricing on building plots and off plan new builds as well as residential sales. Elaine is a member of The National Association of Estate Agents.

Steven McHardy
Property Valuer
Steve joined Morgans Kinross in March 2019 as a Valuer in our Property Department. Steve has a background in banking, finance and sales and has sold property in Tenerife, Turkey, America and Spain before returning to Kinross-shire.
Having grown up, gone to school and raised his family in Kinross, Steve has a real affinity for the town and the surrounding area.
